Open Gate Ministry for Homeless Young Adults would like to thank you for your generous support of at-risk young adults.  We couldn’t do what we do without you.

We are again conducting our annual 100 Campaign$100 from 100 People in 100 Days, our largest regular source of income.  The Campaign funds food, supplies, clothing, hygiene and infant items, special participant assistance, security, salaries, and other operating expenses.

Of course, we’d love to have many more than 100 supporters and donations of more than $100!  However, if $100 or more isn’t in your budget, please contribute whatever you can, over whatever period of time works for you.  And, perhaps, your employer will match your contribution?

Living with COVID-19 has not been easy for anyone, Open Gate included.  We have converted our family-style, Sunday Hawthorne Dinners to a to-go format:  participants come and go as quickly as possible taking with them a meal, water, a pair of socks and underwear, a hygiene pack, and a food gift card or a Metro card, plus diapers.

While our actual 2021 expenses (through June) were 79% of budget, our actual income was, unfortunately, only 48% of budget.  During this period, we provided 609 meals, sets of underwear and socks, and hygiene packs; 337 food gift cards; and 250 Metro Q Cards to 143 individuals.  We have also provided rental assistance to three participants, utility assistance to one participant, a bus ticket and traveling money to one participant returning to out of state family, and educational support to one participant actively working on his GED.

The 100 Campaign ends November 30.  You can contribute by mail or online at, where you can also find information about us  Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions (David K. Johnson, Board Chair, [email protected], 281-685-8200).

We deeply appreciate your past generosity, and we hope that we have earned your continuing support.
